“A kind gesture can reach a wound that only compassion can heal.”

(quote from Steve Maraboli, Life, the Truth, and Being Free)

Sometimes I wonder if people just read my stuff and ignore the pleas to help or donate to the many events and causes I support. I don’t have a large bankroll and can’t donate to everything I would like to, so I try to promote and help through publishing information here and announcing them on WCAP, causes that I think deserve some help.

I sometimes think people read what I post and shrug it off. I even wonder if my own kids tune me out because I talk about different fundraisers or events so often.

I learned that my youngest daughter pays attention and has a huge heart. She has a friend who was in a bad situation and reached out to her friend with a kind gesture and a compassionate heart and invited her to share our home.

My daughter brought me to tears (of pride) for her selflessness and compassion for her friend.

It is this type of kindness and compassion that the people who work at the Salvation Army give to people in need everyday. A young person who needs food, a family who needs help with the rent or help to give their kids a nice christmas. First responders at a fire or disaster get care and comfort from the volunteers at the Salvation Army.

I’m asking this year for A kind gesture from many of you, I need help from my family, my friends, many Facebook and Blog “friends” and from my wonderful extended family to help us reach our goal during the WCAP/Salvation Army Radiothon.

This year again we are hearing from the Captains that things are tough, donations are down and people seeking assistance is up. I’ m asking you to show compassion and to share A kind gesture by making a donation to the WCAP radiothon.

If you are one of my many great family members, a friend, a friend of the family, if you were one of my kinder-cuties, baseball players, St. Michael’s Cyoers, In-house or swim team members at the Voke, if you hung around the Tavern at the Bridge when I bartended or if we are related through marriage, if we grew up together, chaperoned or coached together, if you are one of my fellow LHS Class of 1980 members, you like or dislike my blog. If you are a parent I met over the last few years I need your help.

If I have helped you advertise a fundraiser or promoted an event for you or for whatever reason you know me or my family in any way, I am asking you, from my heart, with love, that you make a donation of at least $20 to the Salvation Army of Lowell this Holiday Season by Saturday December 10th.

The big auction items are great and the donations from the Elected Officials and the larger donors are awesome but it’s the smaller $5, $10 and $25 donations that help us to reach our goals to help those in Greater Lowell who are in need.

I have many Cousins and extended family, many Blog Followers, Linked In Contacts, Facebook friends, former coworkers and Saturday Morning Live listeners AND MANY MANY FRIENDS OF THE EXTENDED NUTTER FAMILY.

A kind gesture can reach a wound that only compassion can heal! You can help heal the wounds of many in the greater Lowell area

IF 250 of you would PLEASE send in a $20 contribution we could help many families during this Holiday season and beyond.

Please send a check (of any amount, I’m asking for $20 but will gladly take $5 – $500) directly to:
The Greater Lowell Salvation Army 150 Appleton St, Lowell, MA 01852 C/0 Gerry’s Radiothon Challenge
