It’s that Time of year again…time to take a step back, THANK whatever God or Higher Power you believe in for the many many blessings we have and try to help a few people who need it.
I’m very fortunate. I come from a great family (6 sisters 4 brothers) and have so many wonderful cousins and extended family members….The Nutter -Silva -Cronin – Quinn -Conole -Reidt -Dion – Jussaume – Maguire – McDonough -Knox – Dumont and so many more families are a blessing.
I’ve also had the opportunities to get to know, work with and become friends with so many talented, caring and wonderful people.
From my involvement at St. Michael’s, whether it was working at the Rectory, teaching CCD , working Bingo, Assisting Eileen Horan with the 8th grade musical, working with Martha Moriarty and the Kinder cuties, Coaching Centralville Baseball and getting to know Mickey Finn , Chaperoning St. Michael’s CYO with people like Bill Green, Paul and Shirley Cyr , Jack and Mary Keefe, AL and Barbara Cote and so many others, Asst. Director of a CYO Show, Lector or being a Minister of Communion.
When I considered and entered the Seminary the people of Saint Michael’s Parish opened their hearts and wallets and paid for my tuition and books.
My fellow LHS Class of 1980, (Trish Neary – John Decouteaux -Steve Gendron – Brian Chapman- Jay McKenna and so many many more) working with so many wonderful people on the St. Michael’s School Auction. Working with the Manning, Donahue and Rourke families at Mannings, bartending with Mike Zannoni, Paul McCarthy and friends for Jim Cassin at the Tavern at the Bridge (remember the kazoo Christmas Parties?), Substitute teaching in Dracut , Working In-House at Greater Lowell Tech and coaching swimming, working for Tom Bellgarde and Mike Skaff in Parks and Recreation or with Dave Gannnon and John Reid at the DPD.
Writing a blog and getting into the Lowell and surrounding political world, meeting people like Cheth Khim, Vesna Nuon, Kamara Kay, Ben Opara, Bob Joyce, Sal Lupoli, Tony Archinki, Joe and Dennis Ready, Paul Cohen, Matt Hanson and getting a radio gig with Warren Shaw , Tim Bomil, Jake, Shawn and the folks on 980 WCAP and meeting so many great people because of all these things.
Especially the people connected with the effort of the WCAP Radiothon like Sam Poulten, Paul Belley, Fred Simon, Sue Plunkett, Tom Bomil, Linda Clark and of course Captains David and Stephanie Childs.
Truth be told the Radiothon is December 12th and I haven’t got a chance to do to much to help during the planning of or in raising funds for this event. I’m out of the city working most days and have family commitments.
I’m asking again this year for a little help from my family, friends, many Facebook and Blog “friends” and from my wonderful extended family. This year more than ever we are hearing from the Captains that things are tough, donations are down and people seeking assistance is up.
I’m restarting Gerry’s Radiothon Challenge for the Salvation Army to see if I along with my finds can help out.
If you are one of my many great family members, friends of the family, if you were one of my kinder-cuties, baseball players, Cyoers, In-house or swim team members, if you hung around the Tavern or if we are related through marriage,if we grew up together, chaperoned or coached together, my fellow LHS Class of 1980 members, you like or dislike my blog,
If I have helped you advertise a fundraiser or promoted an event for you or for whatever reason you know me or my family in any way, I am asking / challenging you, from my heart with love that you make a donation of at least $20 to the Salvation Army of Lowell this Holiday Season by Saturday December 12th.
I have 51 First Cousin, 445 Blog Followers, 500 Linked In Contacts, 667 Facebook friends, AND MANY MANY FRIENDS OF THE EXTENDED NUTTER FAMILY.
Even if only 250 of you would PLEASE send in a contribution we could help many families during this Holiday season.
Please send a check (of any amount, I’m asking for $20 but will gladly take $5 – $500) directly to:
The Salvation Army 150 Appleton St, Lowell, MA 01852 C/0 Gerry’s Radiothon Challenge
I can’t say Thank You enough for being part of my life and together we can make a huge difference.
By contributing a little , we are helping those in need a lot.
