Olson – there has NOT been any confirmation to enter into mediation with a third party!

GN: Tech Chair Victor Olson responded to this mornings Posts

Mr. Nutter,

The school’s attorney has been in communication with legal representation of both parties to coordinate confirmation to set up a third party mediator.

Communications have been ongoing since October.

The Superintendent’s attorney has confirmed as of early December to enter into mediation with a third party mediator.

There have been communications with the school committeeman’s attorney in early December regarding mediatiation and not again until late January however, there has NOT been any confirmation to enter into mediation with a third party mediator.

I also confirmed today with school’s attorney that there has been no correspondence or communication regarding confirmation by the school committeeman to enter into third party mediation.

Regards,
Victor Olson, Chair
Greater Lowell technical High School Committee

GN: In a Conversation I had with Mr. Gitschier this morning he indicated that on January 23rd his lawyer responded to the offer of mediation with a stipulation that they wanted to see the “accusations” that the Supt. had against Mr. Gitschier before agreeing to go into mediation.

The question remains in my mind if the School District should be covering Mr. Gitschier’s expenses if these charges relate to his role as a School Committee person and what role does the District’s Legal Councilor Mr. Long have in the process?

It is good to see this issue being updated, although it is almost like information leaking out of some Federal Office.  At least it isn’t on “Deep Background”.  A certain lack of openness.

Yes, the question of the School District’s responsibility to Mr Gitschier and his legal fees is an interesting and important one.  I also like the question about the role of the District’s Legal Council.

    • Thanks Cliff,

If I could spell and properly structure sentences I’d have made one hellevu reporter or kept an Editor busy for many hours a day pulling her/his hair out fixing my mistakes. I like to ask questions that come out of what I read, see and hear.

I’ve always said, if I’m looking at it one way, chances are others are to but they have the common sense NOT to tick people off, by pointing it out and asking questions the way I do.

  2. “Santoro agreed to mediation in December and Gitschier’s attorney has not yet responded to the request”, Olson said.

So if fact the Attorney did respond on January 23rd.

Obviously Mr. Olson did not read the letter from the Attorney and is either being mislead or has misspoken.

    Erik
