If it looks like a duck….

I’m really trying to NOT blog and get myself back to 100% but I just want to add my 2 cents on this.

I didn’t see the Council meeting last night but apparently from what I read on Left in Lowell Councilor Elliot asked a question regarding the Room 50 Blog and whether or not it was a City blog.

Jen Myers who is the MAYOR’S AIDE is the one who writes the BLOG and it has this heading (Bold Mine):

Room 50
Alive, unique and inspiring tales from the Office of the Mayor, Lowell, Massachusetts
It also uses the Picture above.

If you are not a member of Team Murphy and one of the Mayor’s loyal followers / admirers the average person who comes across this BLOG believes IT IS a CITY BLOG!

What reason exist for anyone to believe otherwise?

It Looks and States it is a VIEW FROM THE MAYORS OFFICE and has so much I love Patrick Murphy post you can tell it is a Pro-Mayor Blog and it is written by HIS Employee.

It has all the apparences of a City of Lowell Mayoral sponsored blog.

If Jenn who I like and think is a great writer wants people to know it is HER BLOG and NOT the Murphy for Mayor / REELECT Murphy / Murphy for Lowell Web site, CHANGE THE NAME, Picture or something to support it!

If it is Jen Myers BLOG make that clear so the average person NOT in the Bubble /Downtown Mob can clearly see it is NOT a City owned or sanctioned blog or change the tag line to:

Room 50
Alive, unique and inspiring tales from the Mayor of Lowell’s Aide, (Not a City of Lowell sponsored website)

Otherwise if it looks like a duck, people will believe it is a duck!

  1. Welcome back Gerry, but its completely within her rights as a public employee to express her own opinion. I’m a little confused that people, especially a blogger would take issue with this. Negative reaction of course being gauged in whether you agreed with it’s content.

I give Jen credit because there’s obviously consequence for every public statement you make and if you express something and know some obvious consequences will negative, to me that lends credibility. I surely don’t agree with everything she says, or said here in the nuthouse, on LIL, RIL, City Life, WCAP.

But shouldn’t we all agree that everyone’s “right to rant” should be defended?
