I enjoy the Room 50 Blog and think positive news is a wonderful thing and believe you have every right to post whatever you want on YOUR BLOG but owe the community the clear knowledge that the BLOG isn’t a City sanctioned one.
Based on its present appearance , to expect anyone not in the Murphy camp or in the “bubble” to believe this ISN’T a City sanctioned Blog is laughable.
It is all about the appearance Jenn, it looks and reads like a promotional blog for the Mayor of Lowell written by his aide. It makes it even more laughable to say this isn’t a PR Platform for the Mayor by his Press Aide based on the profile written by the blog owner herself.
When you go to About Room 50 and see not only the picture and caption but the fact that the author list her title and City of Lowell e-mail has her contact information for the blog how can you not think it is a City of Lowell Blog?
About Room 50
Lowell, Massachusetts (est. 1826), hometown of Jack Kerouac, telephone numbers and Moxie is the fourth largest city in Massachusetts. Visit this blog, written by Jen Myers, aide to Mayor Patrick Murphy, to find out what is going on in the Mill City. Contact Jen at jenmyers@lowellma.gov. Blog post ideas are always welcomed
Again, I like the BLOG and Jenn so this isn’t an attack on her or her rights to post or host a blog. It is about the appearance of the blog making it look like a city sanctioned Blog.
I didn’t see the meeting or hear what Councilor Elliot said, but based just on appearance, it is clearly a promotional instrument for the Mayor by his aide using her City of Lowell e-mail address has her contact information.

I’m pretty sure no one really cares about any of this. However, you should watch the meeting. The point of contention was about Patrick’s letter being posted on “a city website, on city time using city resources.” I have already answered that charge. It was not done on city time nor on a city computer. We can argue all day about whether or not my blog is “city sanctioned” but ultimately, I think the intelligent among us realize that nothing that happened last night was about the blog . . . or the letter . . . or the solar panels.
I have to agree with Gerry on this one. When the tag-line reads, “From the office of the Mayor” and there’s that picture below it – the natural conclusion is that its a city sanctioned blog.
A whole bunch of us thought that was a City Blog for the Mayor’s Office. So I guess you were not the only one.
The bust of Pericles is STILL in the Mayor’s office! ZOMG! That’s a scandal.
