I fully understand that Whitney Houston was a beautiful and talented performer. I know she was a New Jersey native and the state is proud of her.
However I think it is terribly disrespectful to every man and women who has served in the United States Military that Gov. Christie would lower the Flag for this person simply because she could sing.
If this is a case of a state being proud of someone than in my view, that flag should be lowered for EVERY person who passes away that served honorably in the United States Military.
Be proud of the fact that these people either by choice of by draft served their country and could have faced the possibility of sacrificing their life in service to their country. Not that this person could sing and make a fortune doing it.
To many people who have served their country and have come home with major issues and have been forgotten deserve this honor 100 times more than a beautiful singer whose life ended early through addiction issues.
Bob Hope was a performer who played in the combat zones in SEVERAL wars and deserved the national recognition of having flags flown at half mast but there is no reasonable explanation to honor Whitney Houston in this fashion.
