  1. The fact that Elliott did not modify or add to Phelps’ Phooey should be enough to let us know how the next 2 years will go. This is a risk, politically, for Elliott. Microcasting to a narrowing demographic may secure election in turnouts <11,000. But, when the next generation of Lowell voters blooms, they are not likely to be as enamored with pandering and grandstanding. Bud Caulfield was a fine whine for his time. Elliott's watered down version will wear thin, quickly enough.

The Sun clinging to life via New Media should be enough of a canary in a coalmine? No?

There has been a full court press to spin Elliott's "deserves." There is enough out there to give the parrots and shills plenty of ammo to give dissenting Councilors an earful. The problem being is that no one knows more about the real Elliott, than those that have been witness to his Chamber charade or campaign posturing.

Elliott's re-election strategy undid his quest to be Mayor. It's not brain surgery, folks.

The discussions I've had, public and private, note:
    1) Election results do not matter. #2 is not the new #1. #1 isn't #1, either. As "Lowell Resident" pointed out – "How many people voted for both Patrick Murphy and Rodney Elliot? Surely there are plenty out there especially if they voted for all incumbents. How can you tell who those voters prefered between the two?

    2) Elliott has been snubbed before. Why is this snub so special? It’s not. The Blog of Record needs a martyr to sacrifice. No one cares if Campi runs editorial after editorial, railing against Lynch. The Editor’s opinion colored by his personal hatred of Lynch. So, Elliott is the whip that Campi now uses to flog Lynch.

    3) To paraphrase Bill Taupier, the most important character trait of a Councilor is fidelity to the body because they don’t add up to “a warm bucket of spit” as individuals. It was noted by Taupier that allowing C.Kazanjian to be taken down (Note: Mostly by The Sun’s coverage) made the CM stronger and the Council weaker. Elliott has systematically segregated himself from the body by thumbing his nose at his peers.

All the tea leaves are there, folks. You can cherry pick yours. I’ll cherry pick mine. Lowell goes on.

I’ll close by quoting a current LTE: Lowell is a small city, and the news isn’t always going to riveting, as we can see from the large picture of the peacock on the front page of the Dec. 16 paper, but the reporting should be sincere and real, not instigated by the need for drama.

  2. After having breakfast at Shaw’s (where else?), Gerry accidentally left his 2012 New Year’s resolutions list on the table…. here they are in no particular order….. “I will stop frequenting Gemstone’s on fetish nights…running into too many politicians in latex”, “I will be nicer to Rodney Elliot….. always have to have one resolution that you know you won’t keep”, ” I will expand my sphere of influence to include Billerica…. their politics are even crazier than Dracut’s”, “I will stop wearing my Berinie Lynch fan club button at Council meetings” and lastly, “I will throw my support behind Scott Brown”.

  3. We get it jack, you really don’t like Elliott.

Why don’t you just challenge him to a boxing match and get it over with?

Better yet —- You, Elliott, Campi and Nutter can be a human dogsled team for Winterfest and we can watch you pull in four different directions.
