Sun getting into Mayoral Fight? They want you too!

* Lowell’s City Council will choose a new mayor from among its members next month. If you voted in last month’s city election, reporter Lyle Moran would like to speak with you. Contact him at lmoran@lowellsun.com and 978-970-4636.
Funny because the charter is pretty clear that it is only the 9 members elected by the citizens who get to vote for mayor so why are they trying to solicit people’s responses? They can’t possibly try to say that 10 -15 people who may bother to respond represent some type of public consensus can they? Even if 50 people respond it doesn’t matter.
All that matters is does Rodney or Patrick truly represent the other 8 councilors? One of them campaigned as being a loner time after time pointing out he alone opposed the last two budgets. While the other has a list of solid accomplishments in his 1st term.
You have to wonder what their agenda is? Are they trying to put some pressure on the uncommitted councilors? Stir up more angry voters? PR to support Rodney?
The fact that they are using Rodney’s PR guy to do the Story I’m sure will not sway the discussion or the people who respond. Why use Chris Scott, Rita Savard, Erin Smith or Jenn Myers and present at least an appearance of impartiality?
Maybe they should save some time and just ask the 73 Facebook supporters of I Support Rodney for Mayor.
Keep an eye out for the story or email/call Lyle with your choice.
The need is Great, PLEASE! your help is needed
Posted: December 1, 2011 Filed under: Uncategorized 2 Comments »Over the past year we have seen the economy continue to slump. We have all heard or experienced first hand family and friends who have lost their jobs, had their hours reduced or in some cases lost their home. Many families are struggling to provide the basics of food, clothing and shelter let along getting their children Christmas presents.
Christmas is a time of joy and wonder, especially for kids and families with kids. Is their anything better than to watch the expression of surprise, wonder, excitement on the face of your son/daughter,grandchild when they see the presents under the tree and watch as they open the gifts Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?
What’s better than the joy of celebrating Christmas Eve or Christmas days in a home filled with the smell of gingerbread or homemade pies and a meal with family or friends that celebrates the love and joy of the season?
For many families in the Greater Lowell Area that is not going to happen this year, in fact without you and your kindness, they may have no diner let alone a present for their child.
PLEASE consider tuning into WCAP on Saturday Dec.10 from 6:00 am – 1:00 pm (or has long as is needed) and calling in to make a donation to the Salvation Army during the annual radiothon.
This year you can also tune into LTC channel 8 to see items that area businesses or individuals have contributed and you can call in and make a bid to purchase them or you can stop by the Lowell Sun building from 10:00 – Noon to listen to the music of Paul Belley and his band, get the kids picture taken with Santa, meet Bob Lobel, Mickey Ward, Mickey O’Keefe and Jim Campanini and make a donation or bid on items we will be auctioning off there.
Like last year the need is growing and all donations stay in the Greater Lowell Area for families that are in need.
So I ask you on behalf of all those involved and especially for all those in need, please consider making a donation of $5, $10,or whatever you can, call and bid on an item to give to someone for Christmas or stop by and make a dollar or two donation for a picture with Santa.
Please help us to help those in need.
Thank You!
