Results of UMass Lowell-Boston Herald Poll to Be Released
National Survey Looks at Opinions of Occupy Wall Street, Tea Party
Sunday, Nov. 6
10 p.m.
WHAT: The latest UMass Lowell-Boston Herald poll looks at voters’ opinions of Occupy Wall Street, the tea party and how supporters of each feel about the government and national issues.
The Occupy movement has grown from the Occupy Wall Street protest to public encampments around the United States and the world. The tea party has been a driving force in recent elections. The poll conducted on behalf of UMass Lowell’s Center for Public Opinion and the Boston Herald looks at national sentiment about both movements.
Results of the poll will be available at http://www.bostonherald.com at 10 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 6.
On Tuesday, Nov. 8, the UMass Lowell Center for Public Opinion will hold a forum on the Occupy movement for students and the public that will discuss topics including the poll results and the experiences of Occupy movement participants.
Speakers are scheduled to include two UMass Lowell student veterans who have participated in Occupy Boston; independent survey researcher Mike Mokrzycki, who oversaw the poll; and Jenifer Whitten-Woodring, an assistant professor of political science whose work focuses on protest, repression and media freedom. Chancellor Marty Meehan will moderate the discussion. The program will be held in O’Leary Library, Room 222, South Campus, 61 Wilder St., Lowell.
