Update: Today’s SUN says it all: Milinazzo declined comment after the meeting and voiced his displeasure with several councilors who voted for Gitschier
HR Assistant Conor Baldwin wrote the job description NOT Mike Herbert
Tonight the rank and file workers of this City, along with the Citizens of this City saw a majority of the City Council Rita Mercier – Patrick Murphy – Rodney Elliot – Bud Caulfield – Joe Mendonca and Frankie Descoteaux, do the fair and just thing, they acknowledged the loyalty, hard work and dedication of the Asst. City Clerk and named her Acting City Clerk effective Monday Sept. 26th when the 60 day appointment of the current clerk expires Thursday Sept. 22nd.
ALL City Workers and Citizens also saw the arrogance and contempt that Atty Bill Martin, Atty Kevin Broderick and the Mayor Jim Milinazzo Vice President of Business Services at Jeanne D’Arc Credit have for the “common” worker by voting instead to extend the contract of Acting City Clerk “Atty.” Brian Leahy.
Milanazzo especially who moments earlier stated he wanted to save money on Health Care wanted to spend $16,000 for the person HE chose to be City Clerk and apparently the person he WANTS to be City Clerk. It was very obvious to those in attendance that the Mayor was NOT happy with the vote and it also was revealed to no one’s surprise that the addition of the MAY Supervise Elections was added by HR Assistant Conor Baldwin with the MAYOR’s approval…seemingly crafting the job description for his candidate Atty. Leahy.
When it was called out by Councilors Elliot and Caulfield who made the motion to remove it ALL 9 councilors voted to do that.
All in all Fairness and Recognition of a Loyal Employee by a Majority of City Councilors Won out over the arrogance and snubbing of those less educated by the Gang of 3 Milanazzo -Martin- Broderick who showed the average citizen like myself who didn’t go to college that they think they and those with higher education like Atty Leahy are superior to those who didn’t and those who work/live paycheck to paycheck. It was very disappointing and was a slap in the face to those of us who work day to day. It showed the average City worker that they don’t care about the day to day clerk or water worker. It was Insulting to long-term city employees’.
We need to remember that going forward.
