I respect voters to much to play games, the campaign is about issues.
Posted: August 25, 2011 Filed under: Politics 9 Comments »Those may not be John MacDonald’s EXACT words but after a call to John to get his version of the Jack Mitchell/LIL ‘Identity Gate” story, it pretty much sums up our conversation.
I asked John if he would consider sending me a written response and he graciously obliged. I BOLDED the most important statement.
Dear Gerry,
I appreciated your telephone call in regards to the BLOG posting by Jack Mitchell on Left in Lowell. I want you and the readers of your BLOG to know that I know nothing about the people posting on my page other than they have been complimentary of my campaign. My guess is that the people who friended me on Facebook are supporters. In no way do I know them or do they have anything to do with my campaign. That’s it.
I am focused on the issues that are affecting Lowell. I walk the streets, knock on doors and hear almost unanimously that people do not feel like they are being heard. I am running for Lowell City Council to help make Lowell a better city and to help move us forward with a long term strategy.
People are concerned about property taxes, crime, the economy and what the immediate and long term future will bring to them.
Also I was disappointed to hear that Franky Descoteaux dropped out of the race. I wish her the best of luck and want to thank her for all her contributions to the City of Lowell.
Sincerely,
John MacDonald

It’s only a matter of time before Jack and the LiL crew start associating republican dirty tricksters and right wing conspicaries to MacDonald’s campaign. I was pretty set in voting for him from the get go on issues alone, but their protests have ensured he’s getting one of my nine votes at this point. If he’s an enemy of theirs, he’s a friend of mine.
On another note, whoever this Bowen guy is keeps telling Jack to get a job. Can this be confirmed? Is Jack really one of the non working masses? It would explain a lot.
No it isn’t tue, I beleive Jack is gainfully employed
RIN, yes you hide, but we have come to “know” you. It’s kinda cute, in a way. You’re a shy boy.
.
But this shady marketing ploy?
.
Gerry accepts that dishonesty in an effort to win is okay. He even seems to marvel at the evolution of the “art form.”(h/t Dick Howe) Apparently, everything on the internet is a lie. Caveat Emptor, right?
.
RIN, we see you coming. The mask does not hide the intent. These facebook trolls are used to suck in the unwary. Kinda like the booby traps disguised as kids toys they saw in Vietnam.
.
They were used to bash the candidates and the Council. Both your foes AND your pals. Caveat Emptor?
.
PS. These high price marketing schemes are gonna jack up the cost of City Council races. Soon enough, the Councilors will be looking for the dough.
You are so smart Jack. My hero. You see me coming. Wow. Such a visionary. Nobody is ever going to pull on over on you genius LiLers. Unless they try something a little more subtle like banging you over the head with a hammer or something.
Keep posting your nonsense. Another couple of days and you’ll have destroyed any shred of credibility you may have remaining on any blog except your home field, where the dozen sycophants spend each day patting each other on the back.
Can hardly wait to see your next “investigative” post on LiL. “MacDonald is the second gunmen on the grassy knoll.”
Gerry – I used to read LIL every day – but find myself more and more disenchanted with Mitchell’s comments. I have always voted the person , not the party and will continue to do so. There are 2 sides to every story and Mitchell seems to forget that in many of his posts. As for the remarks about dishonesty – both sides are equally guilty of trashing each other without regard to the facts.
Franky dropping out just may turn out to be the best thing to happen to John MacDonald.
The “local businessman/woman” is now John MacDonald. He is the ONLY challenger I have actually heard discussing issues. The more I learn and hear from him, the more I like him. I was one of those who helped Franky cruise to a #3 spot last year, and, like MacDonald, am dissapointed that she will not be running again.
Franky’s dismissal also should put a BIG smile on Murphy, Mendonca, and Elliots face. I had thought that maybe two of those would lose reelection. Mendonca gets my #1 vote because he is the only candidate who “gets it” on financial matters. Elliot has never gotten my vote and never will. I dont vote for flip flops, I wear them. Murphy Im still on the line, but leaning toward voting for him – again.
Still months away so lets not go overboard on ANYTHING, but right now MacDonald is the ONLY challenger who seems to be running a real campaign. Sad.
The problem with LIL is that Lynee Lupien and Jack Mitchell think they are the only ones in the world with a brain. They talk down to people who don’t agree with them, call them names and such. I really have to question the mental status of both of them along their level of education
re: LIL – what the heck are you reading that crap for? it’s a beautiful sunny day – who has time for that crap??
Franky D. lives and works in downtown Lowell. She is a member of downtown Lowell business association and has participated for years in lowell economic development programs. She also owns and operates two business in Lowell. In what way does she have any resemblence to John MacDonald? His business efforts are exclusively focused outside of Lowell.
I haven’t found one person who knows of MacDonald participating in any board, nonprofit program or community program of any kind in Lowell in the past. If someone other than Mr. Bowen or Mr. Howe would like to respond I’m happy to hear it.
