Gerry: I received a call from 1st Middlesex Senate Candidate Chris Doherty an hour or so ago, the call was for 3 things

1) To introduce himself and answer my question on the Home Rule Petition
2) To wish me a Happy Birthday (my sister Kathie put him up to that)
3) To tell me that his campaign is NOT behind this Poll (if there really is one – GN)

Mr. Doherty who told me to call him Chris, wanted to make it clear that the rumored Poll is nothing that he, his campaign or anyone who supports him is knowingly connected to.

I say supposed POLL because I have asked some people in my area if they have been contacted and none have even though they have been regular democratic voters for a long time. Also NO ONE has been able to prove to me such a poll really exist. I read about it on another website but even the Lowell SUN can’t substantiate that a poll exist. They rely on supporters of Eileen Donoghue who have a known bias. They use words like reportedly and site a company in AL. that they can’t get a response from. No one who isn’t tied to the Donoghue Campaign has reported anything about this poll. Even the Sun states: The Sun has not heard the questions firsthand

But for argument’s sake let’s say that there is such a poll, It appears to me that this poll could have been set up by a special interest group (who could be trying to help either candidate or harm either one.)

(UPDATE THANKS TO ARTHUR) There is a Republican in the race – James J. Buba of 130 Endicott Street , Lowell, Ma or Patrick O’Connor who will be on the ballot as a unenrolled candidate plus it could be a special interest group conducting the poll to get info on Gov. Patrick while at the same time causing some grief for chuckles among the 2 Senate Candidates. Why rule these people out?

Doherty states in the SUN he doesn’t believe in Push POLLS and told me he certainly would be smart enough to make sure his opponent would not get a call (which has to be the dumbest thing I have heard and leads me to believe he is not involved.) Any serious candidate paying for a poll would be smart enough to insure his/her opponent doesn’t get called. People may have questions about Mr. Doherty’s position but NO One has ever accused him of NOT BEING SMART.

I’m taking this whole story with a very large grain of salt until more and clearer information on it gets out. I Invite any NON supporter (s) who have received a call to comment and let me know what you thought about the poll.
