Dracut School Committee member and ex-water worker Ron Mercier and his co-defendant Keith Murphy had their Atty’s plead not guilty to stealing gas and a camera according to today’s Sun breaking news.

The most interesting aspect is that according to the paper the two defendants made allegations of wrongdoing by other LRWU employees.

Okay so let me get this straight, these two knuckleheads say we are not guilty even when Murphy admits he took the camera because “”his privacy was being violated” by the installation of the camera on city property” but we will tell you about the other people we work with.

I guess Ron Mercier wants to show the children of Dracut that if you get caught doing something wrong, don’t be a man and stand up and admit it. Plead innocent and sing like a Canary and Rat out everyone you can. If you have to go down for being a thief, take anyone you can with you. I guess the old saying ” No Honor among thieves” is true.

Apparently he wants to show them that being a rat or a canary is better than being a MAN who stands up and admits his mistakes. I defended Mr. Mercier’s right to keep his seat but if this is the way he wants to show the children of Dracut how you behave when you get caught doing something stupid, then it’s time to resign and go away.

The Sun has a story in today’s paper
about how Atty General Coakley has shut down the Fantasia Travel Group of Methuen. The enterprises used unfair and deceptive marketing and sales tactics, such as “the bait, the switch and the close” to sell memberships for a vacation club that offered few, if any, of the benefits promised.

In my mail today I received a Happy Birthday card (10 days early) which announced that I had WON 2 roundtrip airfares to any major International Airport, Three Day/ Two night stay at any Marriott, a $50 American Express Card and $300.00 food certificate for Walmart-Target or Costco, all I had to do was call 877-xxx-xxxx and give them my offer number. So with the story in mind I dialed the number and listened to an operator congratulate me on my winnings and all I had to do was spend 90 minutes at Fantasia Travel Group of Methuen and listen to some great offers for vacation discounts. First I needed to confirm my name and they wanted to know what my yearly income was.

The gentleman I spoke with said it was a no pressure offer and I’d get the American Express and $300 Food certificate just as soon has I set up the appointment. When I asked him if he knew the company or was he just a hired call center he stated that he was with the company. When I asked if he had heard about the MA. Atty General’s charges he became flustered and hung up on me.

Seems like the Atty. General’s Office should get that temporary restraining order to the call center so they don’t schedule anymore appointments. I tried to contact her office but after getting transferred twice and “accidently disconnected” I gave up.
