The City Golf Tournament which is always a lot of fun and social time out begins this week and Tonight is the Spinners Home Opener.
I missed meeting Senate Candidate Chris Doherty on Saturday morning but did meet the City Manager for the first time. He appears to be a very down to earth nice guy who answered all the questions he was asked on Saturday by Tom and Warren.
To the many Lowell residents like myself who use the Veterans Park in Dracut. Make sure to stop by next Saturday as they hold a fundraiser and kick in a few bucks. They want to build another pavilion for shade and tables and if you’ve been there you know how useful that will be.
Tom Byrne on Saturday Morning Live mentioned that Sen. Panigitakos was down at the State House Saturday morning because the Fed. Gov’t has not passed the additional Medicaid funding and it looks like the State will need to cut an additional 600 Million dollars. Which means the City and School Committee are looking at even further reductions.
The more I watch what is going on at all levels of the Gov’t the more I’m convinced that I’ll stick to blogging and commentary. At this present time any and all elected officials are in a no win situation and having to make cuts that affect peoples livelihood is not a job that I want regardless of pay.To those who think they can do better than the people in office, go for it. I may have my disagreements with Rep. Golden or Murphy but I don’t have to vote to eliminate peoples jobs and negatively affect so many lives because the past is catching up to the present and has Sen. Steve has been warning us, The private can no longer afford the Public Sector….It’s going to get UGLY and July is going to be a bad month with MA. unemployment climbing.
This is what drives me crazy about the Teacher’s Union, they see cuts all around and know that the younger, energized teachers are in danger but they ar so caught up in self-preservation that they don’t care. It seems to me to be the biggest drawbacks about Unions. It is never about the whole just about the Senior members and to hell with the young ones.
Lowell is getting a New Postmaster and if they have a going away party for the current Postmaster they just need an empty broom closet to hold it. No tears will be shed with his departure.
I stopped by Eileen Donoghue’s campaign Open House Thursday, to bad it rained because the courtyard there would have been a nice setting. It was a pleasure to get to chat with Eileen and her husband for a few minutes.
