The Lowell School Committee has to cut another million or so dollars tomorrow night..today in the Sun is an AD for a Vice-principal along with an Interim Evaluation team Coordinator Crew Coach (what a mouthful)
Owner at work gave me premium seats for the SOX game tonight. I like Baseball better than Basketball and he likes Basketball better than Baseball…I get to go to the game and he gets to watch the Celtics.

What would Lowell Parents do if the School Committee acted like the Beverley School Committee and demanded that all students buy a $900 laptop? It would not be pretty…what are these people thinking??
Tim Cahill, Charlie Baker and Gov. Patrick have their 1st debate tomorrow morning on Boston’s Talk Station, AM 680 WRKO The commercial-free debate begins at 7 am during ‘Tom and Todd’ and immediately following the one hour debate Tom Finneran and Todd Feinburg will provide insight and analysis on the three candidates’ performances
Teddy Kennedy lived in fear of being killed. Say what you will about his politics and his money but no one should have to live in that type of fear…I’d hit the bottle too.
No matter what anyone else may think, Mike Hayden does not have to reply or explain himself to me or anyone else. He is no longer on the School Committee and can respond or not has he sees fit. Even when he yells at me or tells me to get over the Tech School, I always find his post ignites a response from people and for a BLOG that is a good thing.
Does anyone think the Electoral College if eliminated will kill Democracy has we know it? Will the big states overshadow the smaller states anymore then they do now?
WCAP welcomes a new member to the morning crew Tewksbury resident Kim Saltmarsh who will become I believe the News Director. If she is the same young lady that I Goggled then WCAP has selected a very bright and talented person to join their team, hopefully I’ll have more on her later this week.
Ran into Brian Bond and his wife at Veterans Park last Thursday, he was praising the work at Canney Field and mentioned that Senate Candidate Barry Finegold was walking around his neighborhood. Barry is having a meeting of Dracut volunteers this Thursday at 7:30 at Referral Financial 1168 Lakeview Ave Dracut if you would like to help out.
Schools get out this week and the City along with Eastern Bank need your help so that the Pools can open. If you haven’t had a chance Please click on the link and make a donation.
Things will be changing at Greater Lowell tech with not only a new Supt. but 2 new Asst. Supts. The School Committee which doesn’t have a regular meeting until August will be at the end of June to hopefully finalize the contract for the Supt. and hear who she has chosen as her new Assts.
George Anthes on City Life when Cliff and I were guest, questioned Cliff Kreiger about the behavior of one of the members of Move Lowell Forward Michael Ready in regards to a posting he did on Left in Lowell regarding/responding to Mike Hayden about the Tech School. One thing that people should realize is Move Lowell Forward is a PAC (Political Action Committee) and that Left in Lowell and Right Side of Lowell are BLOGS. Though MLF Co-Chairs host these Blogs and members of LMF may post on one or the other or on occasion this BLOG they are individuals who have the right to their opinions even if they differ from MLF and it’s Co-Chairs. If their action is not in conjunction with an official Move Lowell Forward Event then Cliff or Lynne can’t and should not be held responsible.
Cliff read the wind much better than George, John or I when it came to Helen Thomas and her remarks. Wisdom of age over exuberance of youth triumphs again.

The unkindest cut of all—Cliff is O*L*D.
As for the Electoral College, its elimination probably wouldn’t eliminate democracy, but it would definitely change our representative form of government as we know it. And, next thing we know, folks will be calling for changing the US Senate from two per state to some proportional system.
I think that keeping the current system means that the candidates for president have a reason for going to the smaller states. Maybe not Rhode Island, but at least New Hampshire.
Frankly, I don’t want to see a situation where California (55), Texas (34), New York (31) and Florida (27) dominate the presidential campaign. They would be 27% of the vote. It would take eight more states (total of 12) to go over the top at 284 electoral votes (out of 538). That doesn’t even get down to Massachusetts. New Hampshire and Maine are veritable major players at four votes, compared to the seven states that get only three electoral votes.
