Few Dracut Notes

School Committee candidate Mae Paquette has her website up and running. If you are interested in learning more about Mae and her committment to the children of Dracut copy and paste this:

I happened to hear Warren Shaw state this morning that DJ Deeb was a speaker at Mae’s Party. Warren was wrong and Shawn Ash WHEN MAE CALLED corrected it. Warren again lets his bias get in the way. If he doesn’t like someone (like DJ) he dumps on anyone who DJ likes or supports.

Same Thing with Brian Bond who I met and talked with the other night. Just a hardworking blue-collar guy but again I believe takes grief from Shaw because he doesn’t hang with people Warren deems are the “right” people. I like Brian and here are some things you should know about him as you consider him for selectman in his own words:

I have been a self-employed electrician for 20 years. I purposely focus my business outside of Dracut to avoid any conflicts of interest between my work and my community service.

I have coached youth baseball, basketball and football for many years and currently coach football at the Greater Lowell Technical High School.

I was a former Member of Dracut Pop Warner Board and a Dracut Baseball Association (DBA) Board Member

As a DBA Board Member, I served as the Project Manager for the construction of the Hovey Field Bathrooms and redevelopment of the park. Funds for this project came from a successful comedy/ auction night fundraiser. Many of you may have contributed and attended. This would not have been possible without community support.

I also served as the Project Manager of the Veteran’s Park Concession Stand

I currently serve as the Vice Chair of the Planning Board; Vice Chair of the Community Preservation Committee; and Vice Chair of the Veteran’s Park Concession Stand Committee.

I have been actively involved in the development of the Canney Farm Project which will serve as another recreational resource to our community.

I see the needs of the community and I work tirelessly to get it done
I am “a man of action,” meaning I don’t just sit back and let others do the work – we all have to work hard to better our community

Sincerely
Brian Bond

I will be doing my 5 questions with as many Candidates from Dracut/Lowell as I can this election season so stop by. I will begin with current Dracut State Rep. Colleen Garry sometime next week.

Councilor Elliot defines his motion

Last night I posted a req. that Councilor Elliot has on this weeks agenda:

C. Elliott-Req. Council discuss establishing 3-member Board to provide oversight of Inspectional Services

I was unsure what he was looking for, so I asked and he was gracious enough to answer:
My motion was to actually set up a Board of Examiners to provide oversight on construction projects/permits

NEW FOOTBALL COACH AT BROOKLINE
Posted by Danny Ventura at 8:07 pm

Former Brookline High quarterback Kevin Mahoney has been named the new head coach at his alma mater. A 1998 graduate of Brookline High, Mahoney (who played football and basketball for the Warriors) has been a sub-varsity assistant coach for the past five seasons.

Brookline High gives a former Athlete a chance yet the Headmaster here in Lowell is saying the community group is split and he wants more names. It is clearly his call and he needs to make one soon.

Three former players and former coach Scott Boyle are all qualified candidates and the LHS Headmaster is dragging this out and embarrassing former players by not making a selection and trying to get someone else.

Give one of these young men the same opportunity Ray Riddick received in his 1st year and select a young,eager,teacher/former player who knows and respects the history of Lowell Football.

They deserve a chance.
